On March 6, 1988, the church held mortgage-burning services for this building. Rev. R. B. Sutton, Deacon Board Chairman W. B. Releford, Trustee Board Chairman Mack Akridge, and Deacon Charlie L. Davis conducted the burning of the mortgage under the watchful eyes of the thankful members. Also in 1988, this Church was blessed in numerous ways. A van was purchased and this purchase has provided needed transportation for members. In addition, the van is used in outreach ministry. A lighted communication sign was purchased and more modern equipment was bought for the church office.
The church has been blessed to have some of its’ young men called into the service of the Lord as ministers. All have been trained to carry out ministerial duties under the watchful eye of the Pastor, Rev. Dr. R. B. Sutton. First were Reverend Ronnie Thomas and Reverend Melvin Allen Tukes in 1979. In 1989 Reverend Michael E. Sutton, Reverend Howard R. Beckham and Reverend Chesley Forest were called into the ministry. In the year of 1991, Reverend Delvin Talton and Reverend Bobby Y. Grimes answered the call. In 1992 Rev. Alfred Watkins Sr. and Reverend Alfred Wheeler joined the ranks and in 1995 Reverend Terry Tolbert was called to the ministry.
In 1994, the church was blessed to purchase the property located at 1996 Morehouse Drive. It is the members’ goal to build a multi-purpose building. The year following the church was able to pave the parking lot directly in front of the church (Morehouse Drive) and purchase the property at 235 Morris Brown Avenue (next door). All are integral to the growth of the church and its purpose for the community: to bring others to Christ.
